(October 9, 2013 – Toronto)  REEL INDIE FILM FESTIVAL (RiFF) is pleased to announce the official industry panel line-up. RiFF has co-opted a wealth of knowledge and experience for their first year of industry events. Panels will include discussions relating to independent filmmaking, music in film, promoting and branding your indie film, and the role of digital platforms in filmmaking.


Industry insiders include John Galway, The Harold Greenberg Fund, as a member of The Harold Greenberg Fund’s Board of Directors, he has helped develop over 750 feature films and television projects, including Away from Her, Barney’s Version, In Darkness and One Week. Galway will moderate Funders, Private Investors & Crowd Funding:  How Can I Finance My Indie Film? Thursday Oct. 17th 2PM Gerrard Room at The Eaton Chelsea Hotel. Join the panelists in a discussion on ways to finance independent film: the resources, obstacles and success stories. Panelists include: David Miller, Producer & President of Agency 71 Productions Inc.; Lee Kim, Producer – Resolute Films and Entertainment; Jeremy Lalonde, Director/Producer; and Sean Cisterna, Director/Producer – Mythic Productions Inc..


Telefilm Canada’s Dan Lyon will participate in Pitching your Project:  Keys to Successful Pitching (Thursday Oct. 17th 4:15 Monarch Pub @ The Eaton Chelsea). The first project he championed upon joining Telefilm in the fall of 2005 was “Away From Her,” which received two Academy Award nominations in January 2008 (Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress). Lyon has been awarded the Golden Reel and a Peabody for his work in the industry. Prior to joining Telefilm Canada, Lyon worked primarily as a distributor and executive producer. Also on this panel are Carrie Paupst, Senior VP, Production & Creative Affairs – Northwood Entertainment; Marguerite Piggot – Super Channel; producer Daniel Bekerman; and moderator Leah Jaunzems, Producer and VP of Development at Darius Films.
Composer Adaline who’s music has been featured in dozens of TV shows and films including Grey’s Anatomy, Rookie Blue, Flashpoint, Lost Girl, Degrassi, The Listener, Heartland, and Arctic Air, just to name a few, is one of the many accomplished panelists joining the discussion on Music in Film and Television:  Licensing and Placement (Thursday October 17th Gerrard Room @ The Eaton Chelsea Hotel – 3 PM). Other panelists include music supervisor, David Hayman, Supersonic Creative Inc.; Manager of Music Publishing and Film & TV Licensing Avi Diamond, Maple Music; and music supervisor Amy Fritz, RADAR Music Group. The panel will be moderated by RiFF Executive Director, Avi Federgreen who in addition to his RiFF duties is a producer and distributor for INDIECAN ENTERTAINMENT with 20 years in the Canadian Film Industry.


Some of our leading and award-winning indie filmmakers will be on hand for a discussion on Indie Movie Making: Case Studies on How To make A Low Budget Indie Film. Filmmakers on this much anticipated panel include Rob Stefaniuk, Ingrid Veninger, Jason Butler and Robert Pilichowski.
